Diagnosis of prostate cancer
The treatment of prostate diseases, especially prostate carcinoma, has made significant progress in recent years. One advanced technology that has proven to be extremely effective is the CyberKnife® system. In this text we will deal in detail with the treatment of prostate cancer (Gleason 6 and 7, PSA up to 20 ng/ml) and prostate cancer recurrence using the CyberKnife® technology.
The treatment of prostate cancer with CyberKnife® offers several advantages. First, precise radiotherapy allows for higher dose delivery to the tumor, resulting in more effective tumor destruction. Second, the treatment is non-invasive, meaning no surgery is required. This reduces the risk of complications and significantly reduces recovery time. Third, CyberKnife® conventional radiation methods. In most cases, only five sessions are required, usually over a period of one to two weeks.
Indication Lymph node diseases
• Lymph node metastases
• Tumors or metastases that have already been irradiated in various tumor diseases
• inoperable local recurrence of a breast carcinoma
The pain-free treatment
CyberKnife® is a promising treatment option for prostate cancer with a Gleason score of 6 or 7 and a PSA value of up to 20 ng/ml. The Gleason score provides information about the aggressiveness of the tumor, with higher values indicating a more aggressive tumor. In Gleason 6 or 7, tumor growth is usually still limited to the prostate. PSA is a marker for the presence and activity of prostate cancer. A PSA level of up to 20 ng/ml indicates that the cancer has not yet metastasized.
The treatment of prostate cancer with CyberKnife® usually takes place in a series of outpatient sessions. Before starting treatment, detailed diagnostic imaging is performed to determine the exact location of the tumor. This enables the beam of rays to be precisely aimed at the tumor during treatment. During the session, the patient lies on a special treatment table connected to the CyberKnife® system. The robotic arm of the CyberKnife® system moves precisely around the patient to direct the beam of radiation onto the tumor from different angles. The patient usually does not feel any pain during the treatment.
The precise treatment
The treatment of prostate cancer recurrences with CyberKnife® is also a promising option. Prostate cancer recurrence occurs when the cancer returns after previous treatment, such as surgery or radiation. In such cases, CyberKnife® can specifically target the site of recurrence and provide precise and effective treatment. Because the CyberKnife® is also able to spare surrounding healthy tissue, patients with prostate cancer recurrence can benefit from this technology without the side effects and complications of reoperation or conventional radiation therapy. Overall, the treatment of prostate diseases with CyberKnife® has proven to be extremely effective and gentle. Precise radiation therapy enables targeted treatment of prostate cancer with Gleason scores 6 and 7 and a PSA level of up to 20 ng/ml. In addition, CyberKnife® offers a promising option for patients with recurrent prostate cancer. If you suffer from prostate disease, it is advisable to consult with a radiotherapy specialist to determine if CyberKnife® is appropriate for your specific situation.
